Erkman's artistic practice plays around the exploration of abstract concepts through the mediums of sculpture, installation, and photography.By using forms, colors, and interventions such as distortion and modification, the artist seeks to make them tangible. She also employs music as a driving force for her abstract and expressionist canvases.
The duo ‘No Refunds,’ composed of guitarists Vahdet Boydak and Kerem Can Dündar, who share similar inspirations from the contemporary free-improvisation scene, collaborated with artist Zeynep Erkman on an interdisciplinary performance that pushed the boundaries of their improvisational capacities. Combining momentary compositional techniques, chance elements, and their idiosyncratic musical memory, the duo engaged with and complemented Erkman’s expressive, primitivist approach to painting.
